In Greenville, that is. There's a pretty good chance of some overcast skies tonight but, ya know, it's always something. Here's a reminder that the Carolina Skies Astronomy Club is holding a public Perseid Meteor Shower viewing at the Bradford Creek Soccer Complex at 8 p.m. tonight. They will also have telescopes set up to view other objects in the night sky. The pic above is one that I shot a couple of years ago while out observing the Perseids in a field near my home.

Perseids may get clouded out

Greg Eans is an award-winning photographer whose photographs have appeared in many publications across the globe. In his twenty years of experience as a photojournalist and photo editor in the United States he has produced work for and has been published in magazines and newspapers such as Time, People and USA Today and has been featured several times in MSNBC's Photos of the Week. He has also been a lecturer for the Southern Short Course in News Photography. He has won awards for his work photographing the flooding and devastation from Hurricane Floyd in Eastern North Carolina and the efforts to save animals in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina in Mississippi and Louisiana.
