Here's a snap from the Bradford Creek Soccer Complex as the Carolina Skies Astronomy Club gives a presentation during tonight's StarGaze and Perseid Meteor Shower viewing. As you can see, the clouds rolled in. Then a huge storm pounded the area in the middle of the talk with frequent lightning strikes. Everybody scrambled for their cars. So, no Perseids to be seen tonight, I'm afraid. Of course, the skies might clear up later. We will see... The show will still be going on all night.

Greg Eans
Greg Eans is an award-winning photographer whose photographs have appeared in many publications across the globe. In his twenty years of experience as a photojournalist and photo editor in the United States he has produced work for and has been published in magazines and newspapers such as Time, People and USA Today and has been featured several times in MSNBC's Photos of the Week. He has also been a lecturer for the Southern Short Course in News Photography. He has won awards for his work photographing the flooding and devastation from Hurricane Floyd in Eastern North Carolina and the efforts to save animals in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina in Mississippi and Louisiana.
